Our company has had a working relationship with Greg Butchart for over 10 year, having
purchased a Roodberg Hydraulic Trailer back in 2014, a Multi-Mover XL75 in late 2022, along
with numerous purchases of Brownell boat stands during this period.

Our purchase of a Roodberg Hydraulic 30-ton trailer was to complement the existing straddle
carrier on-site and allow better utilization of yard space, while provide options for movement of
vessels around the yard. After visiting the Roodberg factory in Holland, prior to our order, I was
very impressed with the facility and quality of their products. Greg was very accommodating and
professional in our negotiations and final order to purchase this machine. Since its arrival into our yard in early 2015, the RBT30 has become an interictal part of our hardstand operations and has
proven to be great value for money, with its seamless operation and reliability. Due to this positive experience, we have used Greg’s company since, to provide all our keel and yacht stands, via his Brownell agency.

In 2024 we needed a solution for moving our fleet of smaller boat cradles around the yard and
hardstand with safety and compliance, regarding regulatory authorities. After discussions and
suggestion, Greg brought down a Multi-Mover tug for us to trial in the yard. After a few weeks, we
were sold on it easy of use and efficiency. lt is now an integral part of our yard operations and
making life easy for staff to move these smaller boats around our yard, single handed.

Approximately 2.5 years ago we purchased a Roodberg hydraulic trailer from Greg at Butchart Marine Services and we haven’t looked back. Greg has answered all out calls and assisted us throughout the learning process as we undertook our first few slipping. The trailer has allowed us to fit 40 percent more boats into our yard as opposed to a conventional travel lift. With this large increase in hardstand, we have then been able to purchase over 40 more Browell boat stands. Again, Greg’s service in this area has been exceptional. Quotes and delivery to our boatyard located in Northern NSW have always been completed in an exceptional time frame. I personally prefer the Browell boat stands due to the wide range of options available and their robust quality.

The Hamilton Island Boatyard plays an important role in servicing our island based marine business operators and supporting our position as a premier full-service marina. Recently, our Boatyard faced operational challenges due to aging cradles and support stands that hindered our capacity to operate safely and effectively. After an extensive review, we determined that replacing our equipment was essential to align with our high standards for safety and improve overall efficiency.

Following a thorough comparison of options, we chose to transition to Brownell Boat Stands, a global standard known for their durability and adaptability. Unlike the traditional cradles with side arms, which required frequent maintenance and offered limited flexibility, Brownell stands emerged as a solution that would elevate our operational performance. The Brownell stands were very competitively priced when comparing with the costs of engineering custom cradles and provided advantages in safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

In 2018 our company imported a Roodberg 38 submersible hydraulic trailer from The Netherlands for use at our Marina established in North West Lombok along the popular yacht cruising passage from Australia towards Malaysia and Thailand. The marina licensing process had been arduous with basic planning permission issued in August 2009, followed by a construction permit, including the building of a 17 room hotel. After inspection by the District Navigation authorities from Bali we received our official Operating Permit in 2013.

With the basic permit in hand since August 2009, we had been handling a number of boats simply calling in for a rest on swing moorings, fuel, refreshments and groceries with most boats arriving during the annual Sail Indonesia rallies in September and sailing on westwards.

It was not until the new regulations introduced in 2016 allowing Foreign flagged boats to remain in Indonesian waters for up to three years, that we saw a significant increase in independent sailors. By 2017 we were aware that many of these boats were looking for a place to haul out and do maintenance, or simply leave their boats in a safe place for a few months.

Our Roodberg trailer, coupled to a 4WD John Deere 7525 tractor for haul and hydraulic power, commenced operation in December 2018. One of these earliest haul-outs features in the latest issues of Marina Magazine in an advertisement for Roodberg trailers and their versatility.

Since 2018 we have hauled out over 230 vessels, serviced and stored many of them up on our hardstand and, of course slipped them back in the water to the satisfaction of their owners. The Roodberg trailer has proved to be a very reliable and versatile machine handling sailing monohulls, catamarans, trimarans and the occasional motor boat.

As a business proposition, investing in the Roodberg trailer has been worthwhile. Haul out Income is supplemented by storage and maintenance works. We expanded our secure hardstand area from 15 vessels in 2019 to 45 vessels today with further room for expansion.

We employ a dozen men from the nearby village on a regular basis to sand, paint and carry out woodwork and fibre-glass repairs, and have access to mechanics and electricians when needed.
